Dear Students and Colleagues,

Welcome students, alums, and current and future partners of Gurnick Academy. We are committed to excellence, diversity, and inclusion. This institution displays a rich history of preparing nurses for clinical practice, generating scientific knowledge and evidence for practice, and leading healthcare systems. Our students, faculty, and alums continually impact the healthcare field in California and throughout the United States.

Gurnick Academy provides a vital environment for student collaboration in health science disciplines such as Vocational Nursing, Associate of Science in Vocational Nursing, Associate of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Education. This translates to educational opportunities that allow each student to tailor their career interests in industries, healthcare facilities, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations.

Healthcare is in the spotlight, and nurses are a crucial part of the healthcare workforce, providing leadership and services across all settings and collaborating with other healthcare providers. The demand for highly qualified nurses in leadership roles, clinical care, teaching, and research is expected to continue growing as we seek to address challenges continually. Nurses are key to the success of healthcare teams, including providers from multiple health profession partners, optimizing care.

Nursing organizations and institutions celebrate the depth and breadth of the nurses’ role in providing care, conducting research leading to best practices, improving the health and well-being of the community through developing policies and legislation, and teaching the next generation of nurse leaders.

We envision continuously being a change agent for improved health, transforming our society to eliminate health inequities.

I invite you to strive to do your very best, connect with our esteemed faculty and staff, and collaborate with each other along the journey. Nursing is a rewarding profession, and I am so pleased that you have chosen to participate.

Thank you,

Samantha Manlosa Sanchez
