Limited X-Ray Technician with Medical Assistant Skills (XTMAS)
Please note that this program is currently offered to displaced Brightwood Radiological Technologist and X-Ray Technology students only. Gurnick Academy recognized the need to help and created this program specifically to fill the void left by Brightwood's abrupt closure. Students will now be able to complete their program and reach their educational goals. If you are not a former Brightwood student and would like more information about Gurnick Academy and the programs we offer, please complete the form here.
The objective of the Limited X-Ray Technician with Medical Assistant Skills program is to prepare students with the knowledge, technical skills, and work habits to pursue an entry-level position in the occupations and job titles to which the program is represented to lead. The curriculum emphasizes development of effective techniques that provide protection for the patient and technician. Graduates must pass the California State Examination to secure a position as an x-ray technician.
Graduates of this program may work in a physician's office, a chiropractic office, a clinic, or a hospital. Jobs may also be available in private medical practice, industry, and government service. Duties may include performing chest, extremity, and torsoskeletal x-ray procedures.
We, at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts, consider clinical experience one of the most important parts of the medical education. Students are required to be rotated throughout our affiliated medical facilities, while attending our radiology technology program.
