Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts offers a 3-semester distance education B.S. in Nursing program for RNs to complete their Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in one year.

It’s the first Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts Bachelor’s degree and distance education program. It will be offered at the Concord Campus via online delivery. “We are excited and proud to offer our first Baccalaureate degree program and our first total distance learning program at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts.”

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing at the Institute of Medicine has identified increasing nurses’ educational levels as critical professional development. It has devoted two of its eight recommendations to the issue. The first recommendation was that 80% of nurses should have baccalaureate degrees by 2020. It called on nursing schools to partner with employers, public and private sectors, and communities to increase nurses entering baccalaureate programs.

“The Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts RN to BSN program will assist in meeting those needs,” said Larisa Revzina, Chief Academic Officer of Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts. Applications are now being accepted for the first class beginning January 5, 2015. The program is divided into three semesters. Each semester is 15 weeks in length. The two practicum courses, Community Health Nursing Practicum and Leadership/Management in Nursing Practicum, require students to be in clinical settings.
