Frequently Asked Questions — B.S. in Diagnostic Medical Imaging Program

When is the next start?

The BSDMI program has a rolling enrollment. Therefore, new students start three times a year. The semesters begin every May, September, and January.

What is the application deadline and process for the next start?

The deadline for applications is one week before the online orientation and one week before the semester’s official start date. Please see an advisor for the current academic calendar.

What about books? How do we get them?

All textbooks are delivered electronically and available to you each semester via the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts’ LMS system. There is no need to purchase textbooks separately.

Do we have to be online at a certain time?

The BSDMI program is delivered through distance education and allows flexible schedules for students to log in during the day to complete assignments and meet deadlines.

How long are the courses?

Each semester course consists of 15 weeks. The BSDMI program consists of three consecutive semesters for students to complete the program in one (1) year.

How is attendance documented since it is fully online?

Students must actively participate in online discussion forums and complete assignments weekly to ensure attendance is documented.

Is there flexibility with which courses I can take per semester?

The BSDMI curriculum is set. Students must take every course as designated in the course outline in the BSDMI student handbook. A delay in graduation will occur if students opt out of courses within the semester outline.

Can I choose more than one specialty track or change specialty tracks?

Students may only choose one (1) specialty track in the program upon enrollment. This track comprises three specialty courses, with one specialty course each semester. If a student opts to change tracks within the program, a delay in graduation will result, and the student would need to complete all specialty courses within the new track to meet completion requirements.

If a student completes the BSDMI program and wants to return to complete another specialty track, the courses would be taken separately and would need to be paid for out of pocket after completing the program.
