Date: February 8, 2020
LVN stands for Licensed Vocational Nurse or the Licensed Practical Nurse, LPN. LVN’s are registered nurses who take care of sick, injured, and disabled people under the physicians’ proper supervision. LVN programs are enriching, and the salaries are handsome. These programs make way to facilitate primary care to the patients. LVN nursing is a fundamental education on patient care and recovery.
LVNs treat bedsores, give injections and enemas, apply dressings, provide massages, monitors catheters, etc. It is a vital lifesaving profession since they are a critical link between the patient and doctor. The prerequisites to join the LVN programs include an age minimum of 17 years of age or older. The applicant must produce a copy of a High School Diploma, GED, equivalent certificate, a current immunization record, and a healthcare provider CPR license. The applicant has to pass the school enrollment exam and pass an interview with the institution directors.
The preferred courses are anatomy, physiology, and general psychology. The Medical Education Institute, a 501(c)(3), provides the healthcare community with the expertise required to fulfill their daily professional needs. The clinical part of the student’s education occurs mainly in hospitals. After undergoing training in LVN and obtaining a license, nurses can find jobs in hospitals, nursing homes, or in a doctor’s office. When it comes to the healthcare occupation, nursing holds the largest share of job opportunities. They are one of the ten (10) careers that offer the possibility of most jobs annually.
The market demand is vast when compared with other professions. Therefore, it is quite evident that nursing jobs are not just lucrative but also in tremendous need.
With the advancement in technologies and new treatment methods, healthcare jobs have more opportunities to diversify. The market demand is something that gives much worth to this course. It is not just that LVN nursing is in high demand due to the aging workforce and nursing school enrollment shortage.
Furthermore, old age problems are increasing, with more patients preferring home-based treatment and caring. This need is only helping the cause and encouraging LVN nursing job opportunities. After becoming an LVN, you can become an RN (registered nurse) in less than two years, which is a step lesser than an MD. Some RNs start as licensed practical nurses and then return to schools to receive an RN degree.
As a registered nurse, the salaries will be higher, and the market demand is no less either. LVN Certification is the most natural path to become a registered nurse, and the best part is that your employment is guaranteed until you become one. Nurses can advance their careers to assistant unit managers or head nurses, or senior level like chief nurses. Few of them also get into other business segments of healthcare.
Employers need RNs for health planning and development, consulting, marketing, etc. There is the requirement of registered nurses as the faculty in colleges or universities. An LVN salary will depend upon the medical institutions and the states or locations. An LVN salary would fall anywhere from $45,000 — $55,000 annually.
The demand for LVN is ever-increasing due to the shortage of the workforce. Hence, when the supply fails to meet the demand, salary is more competitive to attract more qualified nurses. LVN is a profession with rising demand in the labor market.
