Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts has recently announced its expansion into the San Joaquin Valley. Enrollment beginning soon at the Fresno, California campus will include Vocational Nursing and Medical Assisting programs.

The programs are designed to prepare the graduate for a rewarding career in the medical field. Selected students will have the opportunity to prepare for the necessary certification exams that will allow them to work within any number of the area’s hospitals, surgical facilities, clinics, or labs.

These programs employ the current curricula prescribed by the Board of Vocational Nurses and Psychiatric Technicians and the California Department of Public Health. Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts prides itself on our adherence to and belief in upholding all agencies’ educational standards.

The Vocational Nursing Program (LVN or LPN) utilizes the plan that nursing courses progress from simple to complex, familiar to abnormal. The organizing principle is homeostasis, related to studying representative client problems by addressing the various anatomical systems and specialty areas in nursing.

The Medical Assisting with Phlebotomy Program is designed for people who plan to work for a clinical laboratory, public health department, private clinic, or hospital. The course combines 40 hours of classroom instruction with 40 hours of off-site clinical externships to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience.

Lectures include but are not limited to Anatomy and Medical Terminology about the circulatory system, specimen collection, risk factors, complications, and quality assurance in specimen collection. Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is a private healthcare college. Students are carefully selected based on their abilities to excel in the desired field and their strong desire to work in an environment centered on patient care.

At present, there is a shortage of medical professionals. Local clinical facilities will enjoy a constant stream of qualified candidates to augment their workforce. The community will benefit from the quality of care they receive from these nurses and medical assistants.
