Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is making its presence known in Modesto to meet the demand for Licensed Vocational Nurses.
Extreme shortages in LVNs throughout California have not slowed. California is tied with Nevada for the lowest nurse-to-population ratio in the United States. Experts say San Joaquin County and the Central Valley are the lowest overall. The good news is that this is the best time in recent memory to become an LVN because of that demand.
Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts is a private vocational institution offering quality healthcare programs that integrate professional skills, career-focused education, and hands-on practice, empowering students to develop and achieve their personal and career potential. The new Modesto Campus will offer the Vocation Nursing program beginning in February 2008.
The LVN program at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts focuses on physical and psycho-social assessment concepts and skills. Students will learn to utilize complex path-physiology ideas to provide care for those with acute illnesses and long-term illnesses. While core concepts of the nursing process and teaching processes are emphasized, preventive nursing care will be a focal point.
The program reviews anatomy and medical terminology about the circulatory system, specimen collection, risk factors, complications, and quality assurance in specimen collection. And, of course, hands-on training in venipuncture techniques. With the need for educated healthcare professionals at an all-time high, institutions are needed more than ever to provide education opportunities, discover talent, and produce thorough professional nurses.
