Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts proudly announces they received approval for their new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program. By securing the official green light, our program has demonstrated that it meets the standards the California Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) set forth.

What the Program Does

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program equips students with advanced skills and training, setting up graduates to qualify for higher-level positions in their career trajectories. The curriculum will teach students to promote public health by applying their newly learned knowledge to innovate healthcare delivery in a public health setting. Graduates will provide insight, assistance, and teaching of healthcare programs responding to the growing needs and understanding of public health in at-risk communities.

Three Pathways

Gurnick Academy has three pathways for the BSN Program. These include the following:

What People Are Saying

“The creation of a BSN program at Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts, Concord campus responds to the call and position of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN),” says Dean of Nursing Samantha Manlosa Sanchez. “With the implementation of this program, Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts, as an academic institution, aims to train and mentor nurses ready and equipped with the proper tools and mindset to care for their patients.”

Patient Care Settings

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts envisions its nurses integrating the learning acquired in the academic and clinical settings to apply these concepts in the patient care setting. We remain dedicated to our mission to ensure that Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts graduates are empowered to develop their available resources. Nursing graduates will implement the latest nursing best practices in the work environment. Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts fosters nursing students to achieve their personal and career goals by encouraging them to continue advancing their education.

Enrolling in the BSN program is an excellent opportunity for upward career mobility. BSN-prepared nurses are trained and equipped with clinical reasoning and leadership skills. They will become available for the industry and the community to utilize as the understanding and complexity of diseases become higher than before.

Readily Marketable Nurses

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts envisions producing readily marketable nurses and has additional leverage as they enter the nursing workforce. Graduating with a baccalaureate degree will make the graduate more marketable in the ever-demanding and competitive arena. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing strongly encourages a nursing community that is highly educated and designed to meet the population’s healthcare demands.1

Safe and Competent Nurses

Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts will continue to commit to this goal and ensure that the public is well-protected by graduating safe and competent BSN-prepared nurses. These nurses’ graduation will also allow opportunities to move the healthcare delivery system toward community-driven population-based health. Ensuring the BSN-prepared nurses can systematically think through scenarios and make safe and efficient decisions congruent with the nurse practice act is an expectation of the Gurnick Academy of Medical Arts BSN graduate,” said Manlosa Sanchez.

Acquiring the BSN credential provides a means for higher earning potential, develops professional integration, and receives leadership & management opportunities. Healthcare employers look favorably on nurses who earn their Bachelor’s degrees. Forecasts project employment of registered nurses will grow 12 percent from 2018–2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.2
